Phoenix City Grill
Nestled into the middle of a retail shopping center, this little gem stays hidden from the naked eye. But those in the know, know it is not to be passed by. The menu reminds you of mom’s cooking. It is flavorful, yet regular. Nothing crazy or fancy on the menu, and that suits me just fine. I always order the pot roast with mashed potatoes. The meat melts in your mouth, and sometimes I even forget to chew it. The mashed potatoes are strewn with garlic and other delightful flavors.
The best part of this place is their signature dessert, the Whiskey Bread Pudding. It is fluffy and creamy, lite and heavy. It is an oxymoron. And I love it. We have gone to the bar on several occasion, after meals at other restaurants, to enjoy the Bread Pudding. I think the sauce is what makes it, and that is where the whiskey comes in. I believe , if my memory serves me, that it is a Jack Daniel’s sauce mixed with caramel. Truly a dessert worthy of the Gods.

This place is excellent. My favorite entree is the seafood linguine, but be forewarned, you’d better like garlic because there is LOTS of it in there!
It has a nice homey feel to it that makes it fit in to its north-central Phoenix neighborhood which I love.
